In my classroom I use this routine after a sequence of learning has been undertaken. Whether that be a couple of days focused on a new concept or skill or across a unit of learning, this routine helps me to understand how learners are tracking, highlights any lingering misconceptions still present and helps me to contextualise and differentiate future learning for my students. This routine can be structured as an individual reflection or a group reflection. What is important, in the beginning at least, is that we intentionally break each reflection prompt down for students as they learn to reflect on their learning in different ways.
At times, post-it notes provide a great space to engage with this reflection routine. Other times I might provide learners with a template to use. |
