Words are powerful tools that help to shape and inform our experiences of the world around us. The language we use with students about learning, thinking and experiences influences the way learners think about and approach a learning experience.
The child begins to perceive the world not only through sight but also through language. And later it is not just seeing but acting that becomes informed by words. Through the use of language, educators name, notice and highlight the types of thinking and ideas that are important within the context of the learning experience.
