The animation Ruckus by Ben Davis is a great way to explore tension and suspense within a text. I use this unit of work to examine the use of non-verbal techniques authors use to build and move a story along. It is also provides a great opportunity for students to explore how dialogue might be used to support this text and dig deeper into the theme of greed and the actions and behaviour of the brothers.

The animation Soar by Alyce Tzue is a great way to introduce students to the concept of having a 'Growth Mindset' and developing perseverance. I use this unit of work, often, at the beginning of the year as a way of developing learning expectations and behaviours within my classroom. This unit of work contains learning experience examples for students from K-6.

The animation Dream Giver by Tyler Carter is full of wonder and magical dreams. I use this unit of work to help students explore how authors build tension and suspense within a text. By viewing it in an animation, students are able to develop language an author might use to describe it using words.

This unit examines two texts: Under The Rug a student exemplar text and The Story of Rosie Dock by Jeannie Baker. Students will compose an imaginative text that engages an audience and use a variety of comprehension skills to unpack the text.

This text The Little Refugee by Anh Do is a great way to introduce students to the concept of migration. I use this unit to help guide students through a structured or guided inquiry when they are asked to find out about Vietnam and compose an informative text.

The text Ziba Came on a Boat by teacher Liz Lofthouse is another great text for helping students understand and build a broader picture about migration and refugees.
