The routine Think Talk Open Exchange (click link), developed by Dr Rhonda Bondie from Harvard University, is a great routine designed to ensure each learner has equal opportunities to share their thinking, actively listen to the thinking of others, and build on and make connections to this thinking. In the initial phases of development this is highly structured, but as the routine is used on a regular basis across all Key Learning Areas the students are able to use it and apply it seamlessly.

Taking It FurtherThis routine is a great way for educators to see and hear where their learners are at in the learning process. More often than not, groups are quite intrigued by what the other groups thought, the connections they made and trends they observed in their responses. In light of this, I ask groups to share the main ideas, connections and trends they found during their group discussion, in the following way:
